Achieving a high-end matte finish on acrylic is a blend of precision engineering and artisanal skill. 1. Mechanical Texturing (Texture Rolling)
This is the most common method for industrial-scale production. During the extrusion process, the molten acrylic passes through hardened steel embossing rollers.
The Precision Challenge: The roller’s grain determines the "Haze" level. We control the texture depth to within 30 microns to ensure the sheet remains easy to clean while providing a premium "soft touch" feel.
Restriction: This method is difficult for very thin sheets (under 1.5mm) as the pressure can compromise the structural integrity.
2. Advanced Sandblasting (Mainstream Post-Processing)
For custom shapes and thick-cast acrylic, sandblasting is the gold standard. We use high-pressure airflow to propel fine glass beads or aluminum oxide against the surface.
Versatility: This method allows us to create "gradient frosting" or frosted patterns (logos/borders) on a clear sheet.
Consistency: The uniformity depends on the operator’s path and the consistency of the abrasive media—factors where our 30 years of experience ensure a streak-free finish.
3. Chemical Etching (The High-End Finish)
Chemical frosting involves using specialized acidic solutions to microscopically roughen the PMMA surface.
The Result: A finish that is smoother to the touch than mechanical frosting, often described as "Velvet" or "Acid-Etch."

4. Direct Casting (The Premium Choice)
The most durable frosted acrylic is actually produced during the Casting Process. Instead of post-treating the surface, the liquid MMA is poured into glass molds that already have a matte texture.
Advantage: The frosting is incredibly uniform and more resistant to chemical cleaners than other methods. It is the preferred choice for high-end furniture and illuminated signage.
Choosing the Right Method
When ordering, it's vital to consider the thickness and the final use. For example, LED lighting requires a specific "Light Diffusion" additive within the sheet, whereas privacy partitions rely solely on surface frosting.
